Parsi Panorama by Parzor

The Parzor organization is holding an exhibit on Parsi crafts and traditions, along with workshops on Parsi embroidery, next week in Delhi. A brief schedule is copied below. “PARSI PANORAMA” 12th to 16th March 2011India International Centre, New Delhi

Programme

The UNESCO initiated Parzor Project for the Preservation and Promotion of Parsi Zoroastrian Culture and Heritage, IND4070 has worked for the past decade to create awareness across the world aboutthis tiny community. The Craft Revival Trust has recently come forward to work on creating awareness about the craft of Parsi embroidery as a part of the Indian craft tradition. The India International Centre has been a major supporter of Parzor over the years. The programme – A Parsi Panorama – is being brought to you by the coming together of these three organizations.

Parzor Embroidery Training Workshop conducted by Mrs. Ava Khullar,Mr. Ashdeen Lilaowala and others. This will include the actual settingup  of the adda  (embroidery frame), explanation of the meaning of themotifs and their history, and starting to learn the techniques and stitches. Demonstration of Draping the Parsi Sari.

Parzor Embroidery Training Workshop continues.   Demonstration of Kusti weaving by experts from Navsari.
16th March 2011, Wednesday

Parzor Embroidery Training Workshop continues.  Demonstration of Toran making by experts in this traditional art.

6.30-8.00pm MAIN AUDITORIUM
Concluding programme. Parzor honours Dr. Kapila Vatsyayan for the Padma Vibhushan Award and Dadi Pudumjee for the Padma Shri Award. Renowned ghazal singer Penaz Masani presents traditional songs andmusic.
