New Delhi, 21st March 2007: The Delhi Parsi Anjuman this year celebrated Jamshedji Navroze with signing and music and a talent show which would put our Bollywood stars to shame. Yes, our young Farohars (4-14 years of age) did us proud with their singing and piano recitals. They also performed a fashion show based on the Navjote and Parsi wedding ceremonies, all with the Kakas and Mamas included. The adults too not to be left behind sang Monajats and played the violin and trendy Yamahas.
The Delhi Parsi Anjuman had the pleasure of felicitating Mr Fali Nariman on being conferred the Padma Vibhushan for Public Service and Mr Jamshed Irani on being conferred Padmashree for Trade & Industry. They were presented with an Asho Farohar which was placed on a peepal leaf dipped in gold. We had the privilege of having amongst us Mrs. Bapsy Nariman and Mrs. Daisy Irani also for dinner.
The Delhi Parsi Anjuman also did honors to four Members of the Anjuman who were over the age of 90. Shawls and “hairs” were presented to Mrs. Pilloo Jungalwala, Mr Rusi Gae, Mrs Banoo Sooi (who was not present due to her ill health) and Mrs Piroja Edulji.
All the Farohars too were presented with boxes of chocolates. 300 Members of the Delhi Parsi Anjuman attended the function and the sumptuous dinner by Mrs Dhun Bagli, which followed. An evening to remember by!
